This is simply a quick aside to talk about the word "Judge" which has two spellings for machinists–"Gauge" and "Cuff".

In the strictest sense, a Gage is a Measurement Device that acts as a standard.  We employ it comparatively.  For instance, a Cuff Block is a rectangular piece of metal that has a certain length known with great accuracy.  We can utilise information technology to measure that one length (or past combing with multiple Gage Blocks, multiple lengths).  That'south Gage Measurement.

Measurement References

Pin Gages (Pin Gauges, Guess Pins, Go / No-Go Gauges)

Inside Micrometers come in a variety of styles and tradenames.  Pictured is one of the classics, a Dark-brown & Sharpe Intrimik.  It has 3 measuring anvils that encounter the bore, and so it is less susceptible to the types of errors caused by 2 point measuring instruments.

Some three-point mics also space the mics asymmetrically, such as the Etalon make.  The purpose of this is to permit multiple readings to determine the roundness of the diameter.
